AROUND TOWN February 4, 2012 By Marie Mims Shagging at Our Favorite Place is going strong.  D.J. Barney Mims did a great job of playing to the crowd tonight. We had shaggers from the various shag clubs in Columbia plus we had several groups that were celebrating birthdays and other events.. One of the birthday ladies was from Bulgaria..  She was going home next week and wanted to know what the shag dance was.  What a great lady.  She could not speak English so her daughter first sang Happy Birthday in her language and then the rest of us joined in singing in English.  She danced and danced the night away .  She even danced to our Birthday song and loved it even though she did not shag.   Anne White had her sister visiting as well as other members of her family and they all got up and danced together. Before the night was out everyone was up doing their favorite dances from years ago.  Nobody wanted to go home. All you shaggers out there need to come out and join us for a night of fun.  I promise you, you will be welcome and want to come back. We have had good news about Kathy Hartley is doing well after surgery as well as Pat Sanders.   You can 't keep these ladies down. They will be back shagging real soon.  As most of you know Margie Lee is doing extremely well and has already been out to do a spotlight dance for us.  This is truly a miracle. Please come out to join us.  Bring a covered dish if you like or contribute to our big red box that goes to the Children's Hospital. If you rather eat before you come, remember there is no admission fee, we have a good dance floor and great D.J.s plus the friendliest group in town.  We will be looking for you.
